Help Feed the Hungry and Save at Sonny Bryan's!

Cans

Starting today, Sonny Bryan’s will begin collecting canned food items at all of our DFW locations to help stock the shelves for Brother Bill’s Helping Hand! Since the early 1940s, Brother Bill’s Helping Hand has collected and distributed food and clothing to people in need in the West Dallas area, where one out of every three families live below the federal poverty level. We hope you’ll join us in supporting the organization this month by bringing in much-needed canned food, so we can help our neighbors in need.

And … Sonny Bryan’s wants to say THANK YOU to our customers who support this important food drive. For each can you donate, we’ll take 1% off your entire purchase that day, up to 20% OFF (or 20 cans) now through August 29! We will accept canned chicken, stew, fruit, soup, chili, corn, Pork & Beans, Ranch Style beans, refried beans or tuna.

Giving back never tasted so good!

D Magazine’s 2011 Best of Big D: 1,252,976 Votes, 1 Fantastic Honor

WINNER-BOBD-BUTTON-READERS

We are overwhelmed by the more than 1 million voters who took part in D Magazine’s Best of Big D 2011: Food and Drink reader’s poll. We’re even more excited to announce that Sonny Bryan’s was their pick for Best Barbecue! Sonny Bryan’s Smokehouse is thrilled to be chosen by voters in Dallas – the city where it all began … But, do you know Sonny’s story?

In 1910, Elias Bryan moved his family to Dallas from Cincinnati and opened the first Bryan ’s Barbecue. His son, William Jennings Bryan, (known as Red for his red hair) opened his own restaurant in Oak Cliff, Texas, 25 years later. William Jennings Bryan Jr., known as “Sonny,” worked side-by-side with his dad, Red, to serve up great barbecue to great people for nearly two decades. Then, in 1958, Sonny left  Bryan’s Barbecue to open his own restaurant on February 13, the same month and day his father and grandfather opened their restaurants so many years before.

Sonny Bryan’s was founded by a loyal family and, today, we’re so proud to have an extended family of fans, who have supported us since the beginning!

Super Bowl Week - Celeb Sightings

Sonny Photo2_small

Yesterday was an exciting day for us at Sonny Bryan’s Smokehouse, despite the icy weather!  Both our Original and West End locations had a few celebrity visitors stop by to sample our world famous BBQ.

Emeril Lagasse spent most of the day at our Original Location filming for a brand new show that will air on the Cooking Network fittingly called “The Originals.”  We were honored to be among three restaurants selected for the Dallas show and loved having the crew with us for the day.  Our Baron of Beef, Dave Rummel, wasted no time putting Emeril to work and he took a few breaks to interview our President and CEO Brent Harman and Sonny Bryan’s son, Bill Bryan.  On top of that, his good friend and Sonny Bryan’s fan, Dean Fearing, came in to say ‘hi’ and grab a few ribs and onion rings. We’re excited to see the show when it airs and will be sure to keep you all updated so you can tune in, too.

Later in the day we had some Jersey Shore royalty visit our West End location!  Adrianna Costa from EXTRA was on hand to chat with the one and only Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino while they were treated to  our melt-in-your-mouth Texas BBQ.

We’ll keep you updated on other celeb sightings this Super Bowl weekend.  What can we say, they just can’t get enough of our southern hospitality and home cooked food!
