The annual gridiron showdown is coming up, and our family is preparing for company! I love this recipe from The Country Cook for savory meatballs made in a slow cooker. They’re a sure-fire hit for your football watch party.
I always say … May the host with the best food win!

Ingredients
1 (32 oz.) bag frozen meatballs
1 (18 oz.) jar grape jelly
1 (18 oz.) bottle of Sonny Bryan’s BBQ sauce
Directions
Place frozen meatballs in a cold slow cooker.
Add the grape jelly and BBQ sauce on top, and stir well until combined.
Cook the mixture on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 2 – 2 ½ hours until completely cooked through (stirring occasionally.)
When they’re finished, set your crock pot to the “keep warm” setting and let guests serve themselves. (Place small bowls with toothpicks next to the meatballs. For easy-eating finger food!)
This is one of my favorite (fast) recipes with a tasty, Texas twist. Perfect for a busy weeknight!
Ingredients
½ lb. Sonny Bryan’s pulled pork or chicken ($6.39)
¼ cup chopped cilantro
5 green onions, minced
4 (6-inch) flour tortillas
½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
½ cup shredded Monterrey Jack cheese
several pats of butter
Toppings: sour cream, guacamole, Pico de gallo
Garnish: fresh cilantro sprig
Directions
In a large bowl, combine the pork, cilantro and green onions. Spoon the pork mixture evenly on ½ of each tortilla, and sprinkle generously with cheese. Fold tortillas in half, pressing gently to seal. Spread butter on both sides of each quesadilla.
Heat a nonstick skillet over medium heat. Cook each quesadilla for 2 to 3 minutes on each side, or until browned.
Cut quesadilla in quarters, and serve with your favorite toppings and garnish.

Supporting local organizations has always been a part of our business, and we want to shine a light on a few that are near and dear to us in the coming months. This month, we’re featuring Cornerstone Baptist Church.
Since 2010, Sonny Bryan’s Smokehouse has donated food on a weekly basis to “The Kitchen” at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Dallas. The Kitchen is a volunteer-run and community-supported service of Cornerstone that provides a meal seven days a week to area homeless. In total, approximately 6,000 meals are served each month.
We are proud to support this fantastic organization as they continue to provide valuable food to those in need. Here are a few pics Cornerstone sent to us of volunteers and patrons enjoying our barbecue at “The Kitchen.”
From superheroes to animals and everything in between, little ones get a meal on us, just in time for Halloween! Kids in costume eat free October 27 – 31 at all Sonny Bryan’s Smokehouse locations, with the purchase of an adult entrée. (Dine-in orders only, please.)
Visit www.sonnybryans.com for store locations and hours.

Ingredients
1 – 2 lb. boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1 (18 oz.) jar of your favorite barbecue sauce (Our Pick: Sonny Bryan’s World Famous Barbecue Sauce, available online and at all locations)
1 medium, sweet onion, sliced
4 – 6 hamburger buns
Directions
Remove all visible fat from the chicken and place it in a slow cooker.
Arrange sliced onion on top of the chicken.
Pour enough barbecue sauce to cover the chicken.
Place a lid on the slow cooker, and cook on LOW for 8 hours or until the chicken is nice and tender.
Shred the chicken with a fork. Scoop the saucy chicken mixture onto bottom buns and top with top buns.
Serve with a side of cole slaw and enjoy!
